The overall purpose of this job is to analyse and forecast financial, economic, and other related data to provide accurate and timely information for strategic and operational decisions.
• Reconciles accounts, posts journal entries, and maintains a complete and accurate general ledger in accordance with accounting principles and reporting schedules to assist in the organization’s full and accurate understanding of its financial position.
• Assists in the preparation of accurate and timely financial statements and reports to ensure adherence to accounting and reporting standards as well as regulatory requirements.
• Collects, compiles, verifies, and analyses financial information and economic indicators to provide senior management with accurate and timely information to make strategic and operational decisions.
• Analyses the financial implications of transactions to assist the Finance Manager and Chief Financial Officer in evaluating alternatives against the organization’s business objectives.
• Conducts research and monitors the regulatory environment to identify recent developments that may have an impact on the finance function or the organization.
• A Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, or finance.
• 2-4 years of experience working in an accounting environment in a similar role.
• Proficiency in Excel and QuickBooks
• Knowledge of how the government works and how public service pensions are managed.
